Thursday, July 24, 2008Quick American Fork Tax Increase UpdateRevised times for hearings and votes, with brief discussion of where I think the votes are right now. The dates I reported two days ago for hearings and votes on the American Fork property tax increase and annual budget were preliminary and have changed somewhat. I have revised them there to reflect information in the final version of a mailing the City is sending to all households, which should be in our mailboxes by the middle of next week. To wit:
My current sense is that there are two votes for the proposed tax increase, one vote against any tax increase, and one vote against this tax increase. That leaves one swing vote unaccounted for, so far. Be advised that I have been very wrong about such things before. My crystal ball was confiscated years ago, due to gross user incompetence. Besides that, someone might change his or her mind between now and then. You may be able to help with that last thing, but to do so you have to write, show up, or both.
