Our Madrid

Several weeks ago, I predicted that we'd see increasing violence in Iraq as November 2 approaches. It wasn't difficult to reason that al-Qaida would prefer John Kerry to win the White House, and that a major terrorist attack on American soil would virtually guarantee his defeat - the opposite effect from what al-Qaida accomplished in Madrid earlier this year. But carnage in Iraq is another matter; that plays into John Kerry's hands.

Well, I was right, but I didn't give the whole thing as good a name as the Weekly Standard did the other day: "Our Madrid." The article is worth reading.
