Saturday, July 9, 2005Revising Doctrinal Classics, or Proofread, Proofread, ProofreadI recently received a promotional e-mail from Deseret Book, the most prominent publisher of books for the Mormon market. Note the amazing power I will gain by merely purchasing the Personal Gospel Library for my handheld computer - and note, again, the need to proofread. I'm sure it's unkind to laugh at another's mistake, but I'm still laughing at this one. The Personal Gospel Library gives you 118 total volumes of LDS scripture, doctrine, history, commentary, and more. Now, not only can you easily refer to the scriptures for Sunday meetings or personal study, you can also spend time revising classics of LDS doctrine like Jesus the Christ, Gospel Doctrine, or Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith. (underline added) I'm sure they meant "review" or "peruse," not "revise" - but here's your chance, if you've ever wanted to modify Mormon doctrine.
