They're Not Helping the Children

I've been listening to the statewide discussion of budget priorities, education, transportation, and so forth. I have one very simple question: Why is it that, every time there's a dollar on the table, the education lobby insists that the entire dollar should be theirs?

It's time we stopped taking the UEA and the PTA seriously as participants in political dialogue. Once they grow up and stop being so absurdly greedy, we can reconsider. The whiny mantra "It's for the children" ends up doing far more harm that good, if we let it trump every other interest.
