You have to know that the media will call tomorrow's speech by Senator Kerry "the speech of his life" - both before and after he gives it. And the delegates will cheer every few minutes, even though, in a giant step to and probably beyond the center, he'll be saying things directly opposite to what most of the crowd believes. He has to; the only way to win this election is to be more conservative than Bush, at least in rhetoric. If Kerry wins, he can move to the left - but a lot of the rhetoric will probably remain centrist or conservative even then. After all, ya gotta watch that approval rating.
